Dr. Laiken received his degree of Doctor of Medicine at the University of Brussels in Belgium.  He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Towson, Maryland.  He is board eligible in Internal Medicine.  He continued his career with a private practice in Towson, as well as Acute Care Medicine.  During this time he furthered his training in sports medicine with an emphasis on nutrition, biomechanics and exercise physiology.  He was an event physician and medical director of equestrian and Tae Kwon Do (Martial Arts) competitions.
