Dr. W. Patrick Zeller is the founding Director of a private practice endocrine office in Wheaton since 1997. Dr. Zeller is the founder and state chair of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, Illinois Chapter. Dr. Zeller received his MD from Loyola University of Chicago. Dr. Zeller completed a pediatric residency at Northwestern University, and then a research and clinical fellowship in diabetes and insulin metabolism at Brown University. Dr. Zeller then joined the faculty at his alma mater Loyola University of Chicago. While at Loyola, Dr. Zeller established a division of Pediatric Endocrine Metabolism and Nutrition. Dr. Zeller also founded The Pediatric Metabolic Support Team and The Metabolic Kitchen. Dr. Zeller was honored as Top Doctor in Chicago in 2002 and 2003 in Endocrinology with an emphasis in Pediatric Endocrinology by the Castle Connolly Medical Limited. Dr. Zeller was nominated by his peers. Dr. Zeller then went on to establish a fellowship program in pediatric endocrine metabolism and nutrition. Dr. Zeller then joined the Department of Physiology and established a research program in the ontogeny of glucoregulation with an emphasis on insulin metabolism and the molecular mechanism of glucose transporters. Dr. Zeller enjoyed almost two decades of a productive career at the University, which included multiple funded research projects that lead to over 200 publications, and became a Tenured Professor of Pediatrics and Physiology before he retired from the University in 1997. Dr. Zeller continues his career as a reviewer for multiple journals, a productive private practice of children and adult endocrinology, along with four associate endocrinologists, three midlevel providers, five certified diabetes educators, and a complete in-house diabetes education program. Dr. Zeller also continues to lecture extensively on glucose regulation and is focused on clinical endocrinology and documentation with electronic medical record and information technology to enhance patient care and physician reimbursement.
